( 3 / 58 )FPM and I have the great opportunity of working with several local non-profit organizations. As summer approaches and the temperature begins to escalate, fund raising events also increase in frequency. I suppose this is because, charity walks, bike rides and golf tournaments are better carried out with no snow. One of these organizations is the Dr.Bob Kemp Hospice. I'll give a little intro to the hospice then talk about the awesome event we had yesterday.
I must admit my ignorance in that when I learned of the Bob Kemp Hospice it was the first I'd heard of the concept. I was amazed to discover this alternative to end of life care. I think what impacted me most was thinking of love ones lost in large, busy, sterile hospitals. The hospice is a warm, loving place and though it's busy, the action is of a different kind. Volunteer meetings are almost daily, and the great room is always hosting a therapy class or activity for residents and of course the ebb and flow of families visiting their loved ones.
In order to continue serving the community the hospice held the first annual Paint the Town Red - this was the non-blacktie event of the year! With artist Shirley Elford as the Honourary chair the night was filled with laughter, live entertainment and a delicious meal. The night saw 600 revelers donned in their best red threads. Check out the pictures as we attempted a to set a Guinness record for the most red noses in one place.
We felt proud to be the agency responsible for the great looking artwork on the programs and the oh-so appropriate paint can centerpieces. FPM had a hand in everything really; the sponsor brochures, tickets, print ads and video presentations. FPM staff were out in full force and we were joined by our printer Kevin Wynn of Tik Tok Media who handled the production of the night's materials. We were all thrilled to donate our time in support of such a great cause.
Our relationship with the hospice continues as we rev up for another great event happening next Friday with the Moonlit Memory walk. To learn more visit the Hospice website Hopefully I will see you there ;)
