I finally got the chance to get out and do some golfing this year. The weather held out this past week as we hit the course for an amazing and fun day of golf at Heron Point in Ancaster in support of the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice. We actually golfed really well too. In fact, the best game I every played. However, I have to admit I did bring with me 3 amazing golfers. 2 were killer on the drives and irons, and my putting pitch hitter. My First Week at FPM3
It has been a week since I have started at FPM3 as a Social Media Marketing Intern. It has been remarkable, not only to work and gain experience, but also to belong to this great team. It is significant for a newcomer, after the cultural shock and the daily uprooted feeling, to feel welcomed in a workplace. It becomes a positive experience in the long and uneven adaptation process. In this week I had the opportunity to accomplish different tasks, including design and writing. I have learned Social Media techniques like how to measure interaction in Facebook and LinkedIn platforms. I have absorbed different ad agency insights in Canada, which is completely different to the way it worked in my previous employment. Keep It New came to FPM3 to design and develop their new website as well as stationery items (Sales Sheet, Business Cards, etc.) with their eye on recording a brand new video commercial to promote their program. YouTube New Advertising Strategy
Have you heard about the YouTube paid channels coming up soon? On May 6th, YouTube, property of Google Company, announced they will launch a new feature allowing YouTube viewers to pay a monthly fee to subscribe to certain channels (i.e. The National Geographic Kids). The number of channels and countries where it will be available will be limited at first, but Google hopes to develop the idea and generate more revenue. And that is what this is all about: getting more revenue for YouTube but also for the company who uploaded the videos. Ever since advertising has been allowed on YouTube it has been a great source of revenue, but now it seems that it is not enough which is why paid channels could be the answer. Plus, you can choose whether or not you want to pay, so no one will ever be forced to pay if they want…
Skills Canada Event: The Green Screen Game!
FPM3 attended the Skills Canada event in Waterloo for OCAS from May 6th-7th. OCAS came to us with the idea of picturing high school students in a skilled trade and handing them a free picture with a QR code as a souvenir to remind them of how they’ll look working in their desired trade. FPM3 developed the picture-taking-qr-code-generating software for the event, with the ability to take a picture of someone in front of a green screen, remove the green screen, apply the image to a chosen background image, generate a QR code, slap it all together, and finish with a high resolution print, all under 2 minutes. We then use Adobe After Effects software to remove the green screen and re-size the picture before setting the background chosen (i.e. firefighter, police, paramedic, landscaper, fashion model, etc.). We’re Adopting Lifesavers Park in Hamilton!
Hi there! FPM3 is proud to announce that we will be adopting Lifesavers Park located in Hamilton, at the corner of Sanford Avenue and Cumberland Avenue. You will probably ask ‘what does it have to do with FPM3?’. Well, from now on, and for the next 3 years, FPM3 will be responsible for cleaning up the park four times a year starting this Spring 2013. Not only will it give the park a better look but it will also allow FPM3‘s staff to develop its team spirit outside the office. We are also deeply convinced that it is important that each of us participate, with the time and the resources we have, in improving our community and make our city a better place to live in.
