Picture Your Future Tour at Algonquin College

by: Adam

With so many choices of what to be and how to get there, it’s no wonder choosing College is no easy task! Luckily Ontario Colleges and FPM3’s Picture Your Future Tour have teamed up make it easier by helping students visualize what it’s like to be in their dream job after their college experience. Last Thursday, our #PictureYourFutureTour team visited Algonquin College where they helped some 330 students from the area check out the vast amount of choices they have at the Pembroke Campus. It’s easy to think dream what you want to be – but to experience it is even bigger! We bring a team of excited, enthusiastic creatives out on the road with a green screen, costumes, props and cameras to help students see what it’s like to be what they want to be whether it’s a Firefighter, a Boardroom Executive, a Welder, or a Child and Youth…

Picture Your Future Tour - Week One Recap

Picture Your Future Tour - Week One Recap

by: Adam

(Photos and Content by Lucas Johnson for the Ontario Colleges Picture Your Future Tour) And so comes an end to week one. Our brave and tenacious crew ventured far into the beautiful North West of Ontario alongside the Ontario Colleges tour. For the first leg, the weather was a little rough at first but similarly to high school going into college, there was light at the end of the tunnel for our faithful crew.   Dryden was our first official stop and what a place to start! The staff and students had an amazingly upbeat attitude and were incredibly welcoming. This first show was also accompanied by the tour’s alumni, none other than Adrian the video guru.  With day one in the books, we headed to the border town of beautiful Fort Frances. I just gotta say, we were spellbound by the level of hospitality we were blessed with by…

Apple Announces iPhone 7

Apple Announces iPhone 7

by: Adam

Get ready iPhone users – the iPhone just got a new upgrade…Or did it? Yesterday, Apple made their highly anticipated Keynote live from San Francisco where they showed off advancements in software collaboration, the Apple Watch 2, and the long awaited iPhone 7. As a long-time Android user, I really looked forward to this Keynote as I have been gearing up for a big change in my life: to go from Android to Apple. Before you get your knickers in a knot, as much as I’ve enjoyed my Android, I’ve felt this change coming for a while. My laptop is a Macbook Pro, I’m an avid user of Apple TV, and my workstation here at FPM3 is an amazing 27” iMac. I love my Apple, but for some reason I could never justify the price of the glorified iPhone. I thought with the release of the iPhone 7, I would…

FPM3 sponsors Volleyball team "FPM3"

by: Adam

I am pretty excited to announce that FPM3 has sponsored a volleyball team that is rightly named “FPM3” and we got the team shirts (finally) in today.  I threw mine on and was pretty excited about showing off the FPM3 colours not to mention it has my name on the back, in the case I can’t remember I can always take it off and look at it. The FPM3 volleyball team so far has a straight winning streak and is stacked full of amazing talent.  Kind of like our company (oh boy…getting biased here).  They’ll be posting updates and photos of themselves in the coming weeks as they play each week for the championship Volleyball trophy/ribbon or whatever they will get. I also have to announce that I’m the “fill-in” for players that can’t make it.  Let’s hope that…

So it begins.

Well, here we are, three days into the Picture Your Future Tour. We’ve seen the sights, met some nice folks and even lost our way once or twice, but the journey is only just beginning. The goal of our province-wide excursion is not only to promote the colleges of Ontario, but to encourage youth to have the crucial conversation about their post-secondary future with parents and teachers. We aim to nurture the desire to learn and experience hands-on new things by relaying the importance of considering the options for post-secondary studies. Armed with their aspirations and the right knowledge, these students will soon be ready to set out on the road to success. It’s incredible how much can be fit into a van with enough determination. When all the gear is unpacked, it looks like enough to fill a UHaul, but we’ve got a system to fit everything together like a …

Relay For Life: Run To Fight Cancer

by: Adam

Last Friday, my team Notorius C.U.R.E and I ran from 7pm to 7am in Brampton, Ontario, to raise money to fight cancer. The initiative was taken by the Canadian Cancer Society which just celebrated its 75th birthday and Relay For Life is a huge part of their efforts to fight cancer. Our personal goal was to raise at least $500 and we can say that we blew that amount out since we raised $1,576.00 so far and maybe more thanks to your generous donations. For more information about Relay For Life and if you want to make a donation for a great cause, please check out their website  http://convio.cancer.ca/site/TR?fr_id=12396&pg=entry&s_locale=en_CA
