Is your Business COVID READY?

Is your Business COVID READY?

by: Adam

We haven’t even finished with the economic impact of the coronavirus infectious disease outbreak aka covid-19 but I can assure you Covid-20 will be coming and when it arrives… are you ready?  The next phase of our virus shutdown will be much swifter and the likeliness of how we operate our business will be critical to keep alive in the economy. Bottom line: It’s time to rethink your strategy for your website update. FPM3 has been working remotely with online meetings (from home) since 2015. FPM3 is a complete paperless remote operation. Over the past 5 years it was a transition. A slow learning stage giving staff time to adapt working from home and most important the process of getting used to working from home. Our original intention was for productivity, cost savings, environmental reasons and keeping staff.  This process of remote working gave the flexibility for staff at FPM3…

I’m writing to share the vision that the world of small business has officially changed. It’s not going to ever be the same. As each day that passes, and we find little things are better. We don’t need as much, we don’t need to go to the office. This is going to change the situation for all of us for the future. How? Simple, we are going to be living in the new online ordering, virtual office, drop shipping environment. Homemade… ordered online… delivered. 3 simple things. Businesses everywhere are changing how they do things. Being efficient AND ensuring that we are safe working at home. We have accepted the video call. It has been here for years. In 2003, skype was one of the first video calling systems… today there are many to choose from. Google and Microsoft are fighting to get back into the game with MEET and…

17 years but who's counting!

17 years but who's counting!

I have had the pleasure for several years of teaching at mohawkcollege media sales to radio students. I was reflecting this weekend thinking 17 years I have been in the ad agency world. And I am still reminded of what happened in 2009, the great recession that almost wiped out my entire operation. I was featured in influence magazine and I thought I would share this article as I believe it is relevant for those who are in business to understand to be successful could lead to failure… It’s hard to believe that we made it another year and we have managed to be here through all the years. There were some rough times… many…but we got through it. The great thing, is after all these years, we are stable, solid and love what we do. I’ve had and still have some fantastic staff that we remain in contact even…

As a marketing agency, we work with many small businesses over the past 16 years that are constantly hitting the RED TAPE. Ontario under the liberal government have drained the small business economy and the PC Party is trying to resolve (or try to!) by letting small business speak out to their challenges of trying to operate. If you are a small business operator here is your chance to speak out of your challenges of operating a business in Ontario. The Government of Ontario wants to hear your thoughts and challenges when it comes to operating in Ontario. https://engage.ontario.ca/en/content/cutting-red-tape-businesses

Passwordless Login - It's here!

Passwordless Login - It's here!

Identity theft and compromised data are regular occurrences in our society due to the fact that man-made passwords are becoming easier to hack as malware technology advances. Countless people are guilty of committing the age old sins of using weak passwords and re-using the same password for most (or all) of their accounts for the sake of convenience. CNN produced an article showing that the top five passwords being used in 2019 are also the first five passwords that most hackers will try. They are: 123456 123456789 qwerty password 111111 Almost every website uses email and password authentication; this means that the same email is tied to an average of 130 different websites – it would be impossible to remember that many passwords. It’s argued that passwords serve an essential security function. Unfortunately, if a password is not changed often enough, it becomes susceptible to an information breach. A recent…

Correct Your business Online Listings!

Correct Your business Online Listings!

10 years ago, creating an ad through traditional media involved creating a page in a phone book of one’s municipality. A set fee and a meeting would determine the size of the ad and how many phone numbers you would need to keep your business local. Maintaining this ad would involve paying a big chunk of money every month. If there was a mistake in the ad, such as a phone number discrepancy, then the business that commissioned the ad would have to deal with months or even years of people calling the wrong phone number. With today’s technological advancements and the rise of the internet, there are many online marketing options. Websites such as Google or Facebook allow both small and medium size businesses the instantaneous ability to update information. It could be an address, a phone number, or a featured ad that one wants to profile. Gone are…

Ways to Pay! All with Online convenience

Ways to Pay! All with Online convenience

by: Adam

I had recently received my business insurance renewal policy and they told me about the convenient ways I can pay them, which were by cheque or credit card. I noticed the letter advised me there would be a 2.5% charge for using a credit card for payment. Immediately, I called the insurance company to ask why they are charging this extra percentage. I was advised that they are entitled to a service fee. I disagreed. So I made a phone call to the Canadian Consumer Affairs, and challenged this disagreement in question. Their response was interesting. It is not illegal, however, it is against the terms and conditions with the credit card company to increase a percentage against payment. Knowing this, I had to call the credit card company directly, and ask the question as to why I am getting charged 2.5% on top of my insurance fees. To be…
