Relay For Life: Run To Fight Cancer

by: Adam

Last Friday, my team Notorius C.U.R.E and I ran from 7pm to 7am in Brampton, Ontario, to raise money to fight cancer. The initiative was taken by the Canadian Cancer Society which just celebrated its 75th birthday and Relay For Life is a huge part of their efforts to fight cancer. Our personal goal was to raise at least $500 and we can say that we blew that amount out since we raised $1,576.00 so far and maybe more thanks to your generous donations. For more information about Relay For Life and if you want to make a donation for a great cause, please check out their website  http://convio.cancer.ca/site/TR?fr_id=12396&pg=entry&s_locale=en_CA

Skills Canada Event: The Green Screen Game!

by: Adam

FPM3 attended the Skills Canada event in Waterloo for OCAS from May 6th-7th. OCAS came to us with the idea of picturing high school students in a skilled trade and handing them a free picture with a QR code as a souvenir to remind them of how they’ll look working in their desired trade. FPM3 developed the picture-taking-qr-code-generating software for the event, with the ability to take a picture of someone in front of a green screen, remove the green screen, apply the image to a chosen background image, generate a QR code, slap it all together, and finish with a high resolution print, all under 2 minutes. We then use Adobe After Effects software to remove the green screen and re-size the picture before setting the background chosen (i.e. firefighter, police, paramedic, landscaper, fashion model, etc.). Finally, we send the picture to the printer. Since the pictures feature a custom generated…

FPM3 is proud to announce the launch of Langs’ brand new website! Langs chose FPM3 as the winning candidate for their request for proposal in Summer 2011. Now, their new website allows Langs members and visitors to find information about the services and programs they offer, and also a little bit of their history. Their brand new website is now highlighting the opening of their new facility in Cambridge. FPM3 is also currently working on re-branding their Facebook and Twitter pages, which will be up and running soon. Langs is a not-for-profit organization, located in Cambridge, whose mission is to make sure that every person in their neighborhood have a place to call home for health, wellness and community support. Gabis Splash Page

by: Adam

If you need a webpage up and running , even if you’ve had one for the longest time? FPM3 is able to get you online and are proud to have our latest “Gabis – The Permanent Make-Up” company go up with a splash page while the re-development of her full-fledged website is being built off-site. This splash page is to allow her clients and potential clients be able to get in touch with her with ease while the site is re-worked, and was done in a very short period of time, and still run her business. As a small business, having an online presence is absolutely huge and any down-time will hurt you and so getting it back up and running was a key priority for FPM3 Be sure to check it out at www.gabis.com

Blackberry 10 L-Series Phone Leaked

by: Adam

As the day draws closer and closer, it’s hard to keep products a secret in this digitally connected world of ours. Now pictures started leaking last night and also a video showing off the new BlackBerry 10 L-Series device. I’m going to keep this post short and simple and you can check out the media below. Based on the images and video, the new BlackBerry L-Series has a micro-usb port, a micro-HDMI, 3.5mm headphone jack, and sporting a 1800 mAh battery (while the iPhone5 has 1,440 mAh and the Samsung S3 is sporting a 2,100 mAh battery) Does this phone bring BlackBerry back to it’s golden years or is it too late? The original story was broken by Tinhte.ve here – http://www.tinhte.vn/threads/1732610/ Note: The video is not in English

BlackBerry Invades Secret Service

by: Adam

Fellow Blackberry users, yes all 4 of you! (I am proudly still one of them) So as RIM slowly ramps up their campaign (just recently sent out an e-newsletter last week) – View Online letting the general public know they are coming back with a fresh approach have won an important US security clearance before the OS is even out. This is the first time for the mobile manufacturer to have had their OS pass security set out by government officials of the United States before the device is actually released. Otherwise known as the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) this allows government agencies to be able deploy BlackBerry 10 smartphones and their enterprise service on launch day of the device. No other mobile device manufacturer, Apple, Samsung, Nokia, etc., has passed security protocol like BlackBerry has and this is a huge area that RIM’s competitors haven’t been able to…

Got Milk? It's Movember at FPM3!

by: Adam

Adam and the gang are growing out their moustaches to support the Movember movement.  Started in 2003 by a couple of mates in Melbourne, Australia, Movember has emerged and established itself as legitimate charity.  It has raised a total of over $301 million (CAD).  Last year alone, it raised $125.7 million to support prostate cancer and male mental health initiatives – $41.9 million raised by Canadians! That’s exactly one third of the global initiative. The majority of funds raised in Canada were donated to our men’s health partner, Prostate Cancer Canada, to fund catalytic research and clinical trials infrastructure that leads to significantly improved diagnostic and prognostic tests and treatments to reduce the burden of prostate cancer. Prostate cancer takes more lives annually than breast cancer; let’s not waste any more time guys!We all remember NHL players supporting the cause on the ice, but this year we won’t have that…

Samsung knocks out Apple - Facebook Style!

by: Adam

So normally, we all work within our respective companies and our competitors do the same. We don’t advertise our competitors, naming names, pointing at them, as that would be rude like your mother told you. These days, the big elephant in the room isn’t staying in the room much longer and is out in the open for everyone to see and hear; sure we all know internally who our competitors are and have a good idea of who they are but to publicly point them out, labeling them – that’s a whole different story. This practice isn’t entirely new with larger corporations, such as Coke and Pepsi, or BMW and Audi but the latest two would be of course Samsung and Apple [see what I did there, I put my favourite company first when I mentioned them ;)]. So on Samsung’s Facebook group [USA Version] in the last 24 hours…
