The New MingleMail Is Coming Soon!

by: Adam

MingleMail? You don’t use MingleMail? It’s the future of email.  Check it out: you make a Mingle and send it via email.  A Mingle is a personal video of yourself “literally walking and talking” over your website or email message.  Through MingleMail, instead of being on your website, it’s sent through email. The new MingleMail is much simpler to use, and with the new version you can even record a video with your Android phone.  After it’s uploaded, the video can be sent over any website.  Another new feature is the new MingleMail also works in HTML5. We are just putting the finishing touches on the website, so it will be up and running in early October! I’ve attached two photos to show you how the entry page has been updated.  And there’s a lot more where that came from!

BB10 is this the solution?

by: Adam

Like a terminal patient RIM is buying itself some time, after an unexpected jump on the price of the shares at the end of this week (September 28th, 2012), however don’t get too excited a single share wont buy you a large pizza it might be enough for a Hot-and-Ready $5 deal. Don’t take me wrong I have nothing against BlackBerry indeed I have one that I use primarily for work (because I have to) and an iPhone as my personal phone (because I want to). Now let me explain you why I am one of those pessimists: When was the last time that you bought a Sony TV or a Kodak camera…exactly! The once almighty (on their own industry) are now out (Kodak) or struggling (Sony) with consumers, the problem: they lost touch with the public they thought that they knew better but they didn’t. BlackBerry was a must…

Free Music Will Kill You

by: Adam

It turns out we’re going to pay for music one way or another.  We have been circumventing paying for music for years.  Napster, torrents, Youtube – they all provide free music.  How are we paying for it? Well, it’s not the record companies coming after us.  In fact, it’s the environment. The carbon footprint created by the electricity consumed by streaming music online is actually larger than the production and distribution of CDs.  It may seem hard to believe that a CD, its packaging, transporting, production, everything, is better for the environment than playing the album on Youtube.  Believe it! Youtube will soon consume 1% of the world’s electricity supply. A little perspective on that percentage: total file-sharing consumes more that four times the amount of electricity used by UK households. I get called a hippy by some of my friends, in part because I still buy CDs.  Who knew…

Samsung knocks out Apple - Facebook Style!

by: Adam

So normally, we all work within our respective companies and our competitors do the same. We don’t advertise our competitors, naming names, pointing at them, as that would be rude like your mother told you. These days, the big elephant in the room isn’t staying in the room much longer and is out in the open for everyone to see and hear; sure we all know internally who our competitors are and have a good idea of who they are but to publicly point them out, labeling them – that’s a whole different story. This practice isn’t entirely new with larger corporations, such as Coke and Pepsi, or BMW and Audi but the latest two would be of course Samsung and Apple [see what I did there, I put my favourite company first when I mentioned them ;)]. So on Samsung’s Facebook group [USA Version] in the last 24 hours…

QR Code Campaign, Done Wrong.

by: Adam

You can find them everywhere.  On the back of your wine bottle, on the ad on the bus shelter, or on the back of your taco wrapper – QR codes are an excellent tool to attach to an ad or product.  QR or Quick Response codes give you a chance to catch your customers attention and take them directly to your website instantly.  Once there, a campaign or contest can be presented to your customer effortlessly.  But when I finished my taco and scanned the QR on the back of the wrapper I was taken to a website that’s not suitable for a mobile browser.  How stupid is that?  I can only scan with a mobile browser; I don’t often carry my desktop around with me. I’m not talking about a small time company here, and I want to make the point that even the big guys make crucial errors. …

Windows 8 is coming

by: Adam

Windows 8 you say? Why does this matter and why should I care? Why should anyone care? We here at FPM3 are always keeping our eyes and ears open for the latest news in technology, and yes even if it’s Microsoft coming out with new products. The majority of our office here is running on Apple’s OS and recently having upgraded to Lion, not Mountain Lion (we like to make sure all the bugs are out and stable before upgrading), and we’re now enjoying the updates of Lion and quite happy as it’s working well with our internal software too. While the majority of our web department have Windows running on their machines, it’s important for us to keep know how this is going to effect their machines if we do consider upgrading the programmers/web developer’s tools; so let’s take a look at some of the feature Windows 8 has…
