Drunk Phones

by: Adam

“You guys ready to go?” Okay, wallet, keys, money, drunk phone…check! To protect our precious smartphones today, people are relying on a second, cheaper phone that they bring out on Friday and Saturday nights when, let’s face it, a few drinks can cause us to be a little careless. I, for one, can recall a time when a drunk phone would have been my saviour – the first night I got my new BlackBerry and dropped it in a toilet. We all know how costly it is to replace a cell phone, so having a beater that you take out on weekends might not be a bad idea. If you upgrade, keep your old version as your drunk phone. As long as you have a SIM card to switch back and forth, you’re good to go. No you may not look so hip and you may have a little explaining…

Air now ONLY $1.00 for 1 min Includes HST!

by: Adam

Even in Roman times there has never been any log reports of anyone charging for air. Of course, the years 2012 and anything is for sale. I was blown away the other day as I saw air for $1. The sad part is I totally understand and appreciate why they have to charge a dollar. The air is supplied (by the world) which is absolutely free until the government can figure out how to tax how many breaths each Ontario/Canadian citizen take in a day and can put a price to it. The cost comes from the Hydro that is fed to the machine that creates the pressure the pump it out. How funny this was a courtesy service only 15 years ago, yet today comes at the cost. Less than 5 years ago it was only $.25. When I asked the gas attendant when did the price go to…

The internet in the last 20 years

by: Adam

Wow, oh wow. If you ever wondered how the internet has grown over the past 2 decades and realized you can’t visualize it, or ever wondered just about how much data is being transferred  around the world during the years – look no further as Google has done all the thinking and hard work for you with this – http://www.evolutionoftheweb.com/ At a quick glance, it shows all the relative technologies that have greatly affected the web, with the introduction of plain old HTML website to nowadays interactive rich multi-media drive websites. Secondly, if you click at the top and select “The Growth of the Internet” you’ll be shown a line-graph (Fun – I love graphs!) that shows a steady increase in the number of users and also the usage of data being transferred across the world. From a measily 1 Petabyte/month (If you forget what that is and exactly how large…

Microsoft Surface, wasn't this a table before?

by: Adam

Microsoft surprises people with a last minute conference…wait, what? Remember this? A few years back, Microsoft was approaching to make your coffee table to be a central hub of interconnected, internet-driven, multi-touch-center-of-attention for your living room a few years ago. Well it looks like they kept the name of “Surface” which I like and had changed their focus to be more mobile and on the go, which also is a good move! (admittedly  though, I wish I could still get one for my living room – it would be great for entertainment). If you didn’t hear yesterday, but the late last night in California, Microsoft held a press conference that was announced that morning…talk about a surprise event! Microsoft pressed that this is a conference that is not to be missed, and boy it wasn’t one that you didn’t want to miss as it was Microsoft’s step in to the Tablet…

Happy Fathers Day

by: Adam

I’m a proud father of 2 amazing little girls. One is 10 and the other is 4 years old. They both fill my heart with joy and pride. I don’t get to see them much, as I do work quite a bit, however I do cherish the one day that all Father’s have to be recognized and sharing it with them. To all the hard working (and not hard working fathers out there), have a wonderful Father’s day! I hope you all have a fantastic day with your kids. No matter their age or where they live.
