If you are a small business in Ontario or not-for-profit with 20 or more employees. You are required no later than December 2017 to submit your compliance forms to the Ontario government to ensure that your staff have been properly trained with the Ontario Accessibility Act requirements. I’ve included a link where you can submit your documentation. If you’re looking for an online training resources here is the link, access.forwardca. I put my own staff through the process. The grueling learning stages are pretty much common sense. However there are some things you may want to keep in mind when it comes to being compliant.
As an example, your marketing materials and your website are required to be capable of allowing those with disabilities to read and access the information online. This may include providing audio, increasing or decreasing the font and much more.
You can put your staff through the training yourself through the self guided tours on the website. It comes with video files, and power points already made that you can walk with your staff directly through the process. At the end of all the sessions have your staff sign off on the documentation dated and you submit your validation and confirmation to the Ontario government that you have now deemed your operation to be compliant.
FPM3 has been training and working with companies and municipalities to develop the marketing materials since 2010 with online Communications, websites, to make sure they were compliant for the regulations set for this January 2018.
