Fridays at 11:35 am on 900 CHML is Adam Oldfield on Tech Talk. Check out the line up for topics of discussion this Friday: India will not allow for driverless cars. This was announced that the government is going to hold off for the autonomous driving approval. http://mashable.com/2017/07/25/india-self-driving-car-ban/#dxxOisi56sqM There’s been a lot of pushback from autonomous-driving vehicles from the fear that a car could drive on its own. Keep in mind in the 1900s elevators were manually operated. You would step on and someone would crank to make the elevator go up and down. In 1900, they offered the automatic elevator which people immediately turned away. It wasn’t until 1945 when elevator operators in New York went on strike completely holding the city. That’s when operators put an ad campaign showing how convenient the elevator was and how you could push the button yourself. Allowing you to go up and…

Listen to Adam Oldfield for the latest on Tech on the Bill Kelly Show AM900 CHML Fridays at 11:35 a.m. Here are this week’s exciting topics of discussion: Artificial Intelligence is being used in Australia but could be incorporated in North America when determining whether someone may cause crime again. All the data they are collecting is now being determined on whether you could be capable of committing a crime. It’s almost like Minority Report where a computer will now determine if you will be a repeat offender. http://mashable.com/2017/05/12/durham-police-ai-artificial-intelligence-custody/#bTT0y_yK6aqQ If you use iCloud you will have to use another password as they are incorporating a second password feature into all the third party systems. So if you have Microsoft Office, Firefox or any other third-party software linking to your iCloud get ready to start using multiple passwords. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/apple-icloud-security-latest-new-password-requirements-protection-personal-account-a7739151.html A new craze is starting,  jumping from drones. Drone takes over office lights

Drone takes over office lights

Last week was a massive attack on servers through the Internet of Things. Adam Oldfield talked on 900 CHML Tech Talk about a lot of cool technology however we haven’t talked about the security that goes with it. This is a video that was done with a drone and hacks Philips light bulbs inside a building from outside drone. It is only a sample to explain how the power of security is critical when it comes to this new technology. LED lights come with the ability to be controlled with your smartphone. However, it costs extra to get the security installed. A new regulatory body is in the works for the United States to put security regulations for anything that has an internet-connected device to it.  Here is a video showing how it works!   Adam Oldfield, President of FPM3 can be heard Fridays on 900 CHML 11:30am with Bill Kelly….

Tech Talk - Friday, June 17, 2016

Tech Talk with Adam Oldfield and Bill Kelly, today at 11:35 on 900 CHML.   Lots to talk about Friday June 17, 2016. Oneplus 3 has launched. This phone is probably the least expensive and most powerful phone on the market. It’s one of the underdogs that I think comes with a lot of value that people should consider. As an example, it charges in less than 30 minutes and give you almost a good solid 2 days of battery power. There is little light on the resolution on the screen but it makes up for it and horsepower. CLICK HERE: http://www.thisisinsider.com/oneplus-3-hands-on-photos-2016-6?utm_content=buffer672e3&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer This didn’t happen in Canada but it’s interesting to see that a man has been given a two-year sentence for sending spam through Facebook to millions of users. CLICK HERE: http://www.ctvnews.ca/sci-tech/man-who-sent-spam-to-facebook-users-given-2-years-in-prison-1.2946262 It was announced this week that Apple 7 and a few new features will be coming out…

Tech Talk with Adam Oldfield - March 11, 2016

This week on Tech Talk on 900 CHML, the following topics will be discussed with Bill Kelly and Adam Oldfield: Skype is going to kill the smart TV app. They will no longer be going to work on development so any of the smart TVs will no longer allow for you to have the video conferencing feature. CLICK HERE: http://techcrunch.com/2016/03/08/skype-is-killing-its-smart-tv-app/ I’d like to go over a few things you may not know about what big brother is tracking about you through Google and through other social media sources: As an example, Google knows your age and gender – even if you never told them. They have comprehensive profiles of you including what interests you and can even edit what they know about you. Facebook knows when your relationship isn’t going well. Based on your activities and status updates the company can actually predict with almost perfect accuracy whether or not…

Tech Talk with Adam Oldfield - March 4, 2016

by: Adam

On Tech talk this week on CHML 900 will bring you the following topics discussed with Bill Kelly and Adam Oldfield: Samsung is set to launch auto connect device, which will allow your Samsung to instantly connect with your car using the standard electronic parts that are located usually beside the steering wheel. This is the same port that most mechanics will plug into to get a diagnostic on your vehicle. You cannot get a port that literally will track your vehicles information. Samsung to launch Connect Auto device and service in North America CLICK HERE: Android users have been spoiled with Google Maps having the pit stop feature. As you’re driving to your destination you can easily just ask Google where the nearest restaurant or gas station is. It will then locate several options and give you the fastest route in the middle of your current destination of choice. …

Bill Kelly - The New iPhone 5

by: Adam

Adam Oldfield got the new Apple iPhone 5! We know that he was coyly deciding between his Samsung Galaxy SIII and BlackBerry Torch a little while back, so what’s he doing with an iPhone 5? AML Cares, your authorized Rogers dealer, gave it to him to check out.  He talked to Bill Kelly and explained everything he learned about it.   Special Notes: The Good: 4G LTE, a longer, larger screen, free turn-by-turn navigation, and a faster A6 processor.  lighter, slimmer.  18% thinner than the 4s and 20% lighter. The Bad: Apple Maps feels unfinished and buggy; Sprint and Verizon models can’t use voice and data simultaneously.  The smaller connector renders current accessories unusable without an adapter. There’s no NFC, and the screen size pales in comparison to jumbo Android models.  In fact, you can  put the entire iPhone within the Samsung SIII
