Golfing in support of Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice
I finally got the chance to get out and do some golfing this year. The weather held out this past week as we hit the course for an amazing and fun day of golf at Heron Point in Ancaster in support of the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice. We actually golfed really well too. In fact, the best game I every played. However, I have to admit I did bring with me 3 amazing golfers. 2 were killer on the drives and irons, and my putting pitch hitter. The Email Evolution
I have finally discovered how email is a complete and utter waste of time. It is completely inefficient and furthermore extremely hard to communicate a message effectively to anyone. I wondered if this was the fact that email is not capable of delivering the communication expectation as it once had or is it the people using it have lost touch in how to communicate with this tool. Email has become almost an excuse and how we try to get our projects off of our plate. How easy is it to send an email quickly and fire it off. Delegation has been done and the expectation is that the person receiving it will fully understand what’s being asked of them. However, this is why I believe we’ve lost the ability to use email effectively. It starts with a simple direction and request of the person the email is going to….

Bought a new car recently? Check out the Keep it New brand new website, logo re-design and video commercial to advertise their newly offered dealership program for keeping driver’s new cars, ‘new’. Keep It New came to FPM3 to design and develop their new website as well as stationery items (Sales Sheet, Business Cards, etc.) with their eye on recording a brand new video commercial to promote their program. Their new website allows customers to learn about Keep It New’s core services and they can easily register through the Keep It New website form. Skills Canada Event: The Green Screen Game!
FPM3 attended the Skills Canada event in Waterloo for OCAS from May 6th-7th. OCAS came to us with the idea of picturing high school students in a skilled trade and handing them a free picture with a QR code as a souvenir to remind them of how they’ll look working in their desired trade. FPM3 developed the picture-taking-qr-code-generating software for the event, with the ability to take a picture of someone in front of a green screen, remove the green screen, apply the image to a chosen background image, generate a QR code, slap it all together, and finish with a high resolution print, all under 2 minutes. We then use Adobe After Effects software to remove the green screen and re-size the picture before setting the background chosen (i.e. firefighter, police, paramedic, landscaper, fashion model, etc.). We’re Adopting Lifesavers Park in Hamilton!
Hi there! FPM3 is proud to announce that we will be adopting Lifesavers Park located in Hamilton, at the corner of Sanford Avenue and Cumberland Avenue. You will probably ask ‘what does it have to do with FPM3?’. Well, from now on, and for the next 3 years, FPM3 will be responsible for cleaning up the park four times a year starting this Spring 2013. Not only will it give the park a better look but it will also allow FPM3‘s staff to develop its team spirit outside the office. We are also deeply convinced that it is important that each of us participate, with the time and the resources we have, in improving our community and make our city a better place to live in. 10 years ago today, was when I walked into the 1 room location, full of old washing machines, a snow blower and a leaky tap against the wall. It smelled like mold and had the 1970’s fake wood panel along the wall. I had a Kyocera 7135 (see attached phone) that had fax machine abilities and was my office in one. Social Media - Friend or Foe
My very good friend the other day called me to share with me both a funny story….and yet a very disturbing ending. Let me start with the story. My friend is a bigger guy and has been loosing a lot of weight in the past few months. He goes to the movies with his friend and one person goes in line while he gets the food. He piles up with popcorn, pop for the two of them and his hands are completely full. He then walks back to the line up and realizes his pants are coming down. Of course, he had no where to put down his food/drinks and finally the pants had fallen off. Got Milk? It's Movember at FPM3!
Adam and the gang are growing out their moustaches to support the Movember movement. Started in 2003 by a couple of mates in Melbourne, Australia, Movember has emerged and established itself as legitimate charity. It has raised a total of over $301 million (CAD). Last year alone, it raised $125.7 million to support prostate cancer and male mental health initiatives – $41.9 million raised by Canadians! That’s exactly one third of the global initiative. The majority of funds raised in Canada were donated to our men’s health partner, Prostate Cancer Canada, to fund catalytic research and clinical trials infrastructure that leads to significantly improved diagnostic and prognostic tests and treatments to reduce the burden of prostate cancer.
