What happens when Internet of Things does an update and software doesn’t make it better but actually disables it? This is the case with the Lock Lockstate Company. The software update actually disabled one of their models and now it will take between 5 to 18 days for it to be repaired. The good news is, it comes with a key. However, keep in mind the  “Internet of Things”,  which is products that are controlled and updated by the internet also can have a situation where your bad review can also result in an inactive product. In the case where a gentleman and the states had a garage door with a video camera and left a bad review on Google and they disabled his garage door completely. https://newsstand.google.com/articles/CAIiEDX3dlmyQvyegg__jfaRLxIqIggEKhoIACIQd3d3Lm1hc2hhYmxlLmNvbSoECAowCDChmB4 As the season’s almost over barbecues are getting smarter. It is  Friday again with awesome Tech topics with Adam Oldfield and Bill Kelly on 900 CHML!!! Facebook has a smart speaker that is a little bit creepier than what we’re used to. A 13-inch screen and the ability to use it as a video phone. It also keeps the surveillance on your house knowing when people are walking around. http://mashable.com/2017/08/01/facebook-smart-speaker-video-chat/#B881onoe65qU Haya – the gadget that allows you to control your entire home.  Think of the movie Minority Report – in that you move your fingers in the air, touch the arm of your couch and you can now control all your smart devices.   Turn up the volume on your stereo, turn off the lights, turn on Netflix on the TV.   All this by making a 3D image that creates a radio/sonar wave that allows you and guests to control the house. https://newsstand.google.com/articles/CAIiEFsgcNqNRAz0uDGaW2cDMOsqFQgEKg0IACoGCAoHonoluluIFmMPqVBA Bi-Laws – we love them.  All cities…

This was announced that the government is going to hold off for the autonomous driving approval. http://mashable.com/2017/07/25/india-self-driving-car-ban/#dxxOisi56sqM There’s been a lot of pushback from autonomous-driving vehicles from the fear that a car could drive on its own. Keep in mind in the 1900s elevators were manually operated. You would step on and someone would crank to make the elevator go up and down. In 1900, they offered the automatic elevator which people immediately turned away. It wasn’t until 1945 when elevator operators in New York went on strike completely holding the city. That’s when operators put an ad campaign showing how convenient the elevator was and how you could push the button yourself. Allowing you to go up and…

An earpiece that checks out your kid’s temp.  Makes for less invasive and works with an app to track if the temp is going up warning you at night. Mobile payments have now overtaken the use of cash in China. More Samsung, Android and Apple pay systems are being used by cell phones. Also, WeChat which is the popular instant messaging system is a very popular way for payments to be made. We’ve heard about Kodi and how it is no longer going to be active on a lot of Android boxes. A lot of the reasons are streaming illegally. With that said there is a new service, one that’s been around but not as popular called Mobdro. The difference between this product…

Google will now go through your photos that you take and has ‘machine-learning-technology for facial recognition and will prompt you to share pictures with friends when you’re at the same event.
